   About

Luiza Rosas Ribeiro

Luíza Ribeiro, a multi stylistic flutist from the northeast coast of Brazil, blends her command of Classical and native Brazilian music bringing joy and passion to audiences of all ages. She performs both as a soloist and in collaboration with a growing list of influential artists across genres, including past appearances with legendary tenor Andrea Bocelli, two-time Latin Grammy nominated classical guitarist João Luiz Rezende Lopes, extraordinary New Orleans jazz clarinetist Doreen Ketchens, alt-Classical brass quartet The Westerlies, as well as principal members of the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra and the Jerusalem Symphony Orchestra.

Her commitment to sharing the power of music has led Luiza to develop and perform interdisciplinary projects in community settings collaborating with dance and the visual arts in both Brazil and the U.S. Most notably, she has worked as a Teaching Artist for the El Sistema-inspired programs PRIMA Project and Gente Que Encanta in the Brazilian state of Paraiba, further incorporating her belief to instill growth and healing with her music-making.

In the U.S., she has brought her culture with programs of Brazilian dance and music to correctional facilities with the renowned not-for-profit organization Project: Music Heals Us. These were well received by audiences in juvenile and adult detention centers, as well as jails in Brownsville, Brooklyn and Rikers Island.

Luiza holds Bachelors of Music in Performance and Education degrees from the Federal University of Paraíba, and an Artist Certificate from Azusa Pacific University.  While currently completing her Masters of Music degree in flute performance at Montclair State University, she maintains a busy freelance career in the New York tri-state area.
